GI back from Liberia, found dead near Fort Hood, did not have Ebola

A soldier who was found dead after recently returning from Liberia was identified Wednesday as Spc. Kendrick Vernell Sneed.

The Army also said initial and more conclusive follow-up tests revealed that Sneed, 24, of Bossier City, Louisiana, did not have the Ebola virus. Fort Hood officials did not give a cause of death.

A passer-by called police early Tuesday after seeing him face-down in front of his apartment a few miles from Fort Hood. He was pronounced dead soon after.

Sneed joined the Army in June 2009 and was an automated logistics specialist. He had been assigned to the 36th Engineer Brigade's 62nd Engineer Company since June 2012.
