Suspect in nightclub drug ring fails to show for court, warrant issued (Yassine Enterprises case)

One of 10 suspects linked to an alleged drug ring that reportedly operated out of several Austin nightclubs run by Yassine Enterprises didn’t appear for a court hearing this afternoon, and has a warrant for his arrest.

An attorney for Karim Faiq told the American-Statesman he had expected his client to show and was unsure of his whereabouts.

Also at today’s hearing, attorneys for several of the defendants told U.S. District Court Judge Sam Sparks the federal government had not yet turned over all its evidence so they could review it before going to trial.

After hearing their concerns, Sparks bumped the trial’s start date from June 1 to Oct. 1.

Where can I place a bet on how many of the 10 suspects will actually show up for court? Is anyone concerned about the poor job done by the State Comptroller Susan Combs in failing to collect state taxes before the debt got to be 2 million???? Where was the TABC, don’t they monitor liquor sales and payments to distributors and suspend licenses????? Congrats guys. No wonder the Texas school children are suffering from state shortfalls in funds. If you don’t collect the taxes due you will always be short. When Bob Bullock was State Comptroller, the enforcement agents and auditors were known as Bullock’s Raiders because they raided businessnes that were way less than 2 million in the whole.

Another staggering failure by our Republican State Comptroller.
