Report: George W. Bush charged Texas homeless shelter $100,000 for speaking engagement

Former President George W. Bush charged a Texas homeless shelter a $100,000 fee for speaking engagement earlier this year, according to a report from Politico.

That's one of at least 200 paid speeches Bush has made since the end of his presidency, the news outlet reported, during which the former president made $100,000 to $175,000 per appearance.

Bush charged $100,000 to speak at a February gala hosted at the Intercontinental Hotel in Addison for Samaritan Inn, a homeless shelter in McKinney, Politico reported.

Lynne Sipiora, the shelter's executive director, told Politico she considered Bush's $100,000 "regular fee" for the February appearance a "bargain" in comparison to other "entertainers and political figures," including Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who was charging about $250,000.

but, seems to be the way of the world. If you want a big name speaker, you are going to pay for their service no matter who you are or what group you represent. They are entertainers.

I was thinking of something synonymous with prostitute, but I don't want to offend anyone--and yes the term applies to both sexes.

but as we know and have seen of late, words and their use can create some "interesting" consequences and being generous really costs nothing.
