Former State Rep. Ernestine Glossbrenner dead at 79
ALICE Longtime state Rep. Ernestine Glossbrenner, from Alice, died on Sunday morning at Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline.
She was 79.

First elected to serve the same year as the late Rep. Irma Rangel, Glossbrenner in her freshman session successfully co-sponsored a bill guaranteeing anonymity in elections by scrapping a longtime requirement that people sign their ballots.
The law was praised as a key protection for voters in rural counties such as Duval that used paper ballots and where officials were suspected of using the requirement to intimidate people into voting a certain way.

While there were some cruel jokes about her physical appearance, Glossbrenner was sharp as a tack and was an advocate for public education. Her other vocation was a math teacher. Condolences to her friends and family. Those who remember you will miss you!
