The defunct Prime Prep Academy has a new set of eyes looking at allegations of wrongdoing.
The Tarrant County district attorneys office is consulting with federal authorities about claims that more than 100 laptops were stolen. Samantha K. Jordan, a spokeswoman for the district attorney, said in an email that the case has the potential to touch multiple jurisdictions. The school had campuses in Dallas and Fort Worth, and the computers were mainly purchased with federal startup funds.
Were currently consulting with the U.S. attorneys office on the best way to prosecute the case, she wrote.
In a follow-up interview, Jordan said no decision had been made about whether charges are warranted. About 18 months ago, Superintendent Ron Price gave the district attorneys office documentation he said would prove computer theft at the school co-founded by ex-NFL superstar Deion Sanders.

(29,199 posts)is either an inside job or fraud (the laptops never existed at these "schools" .
I would look to the latter. federal funds "bought" laptops... somebody wants proof eventually... laptops now reported as stolen.

(4,695 posts)over summer break, while the school is being set up to re-open in the Fall 2015 semester. Proceed with caution.

(112,101 posts)so they aren't going to re-open this fall. They noticed that the computers were missing in February so it is unlikely they were put in storage during the middle of the school year.
