Jet fuel spill creates hazardous scene in Temple

Josh Quinn/Telegram

TEMPLE -- A tanker truck carrying JP8 jet fuel flipped and rolled early Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Old Highway 95 and FM 93, spilling highly flammable jet fuel onto already dry grass.

The driver was initially trapped in the smashed 18-wheeler’s cab, but a passersby probably helped free him, Bell County Sheriff Eddy Lange said at the scene. Lange said the driver had some injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and was transported to Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital.

Texas Department of Public Safety Senior Trooper Harpin Myers said the man was treated and released.

The tanker was on its side, and Temple Fire & Rescue firefighters confirmed the tanker was leaking fuel.

Talk about physically demanding/exhausting work. Now compare & contrast that with (1) the pampered politicians enthroned in air-conditioned comfort in their spacious office suites - fund raising on their speaker-phones (aside to assistant: "Madge: Where's my iced tea!?!?&quot or with (2) conservative pundits in their ergonomic desk chairs in front of a computer - who have likely never worked at a physically demanding job in their lives - calling for an increase in retirement age re social security.

It's insane to think people can keep working until they die. Of course that's the plan, kill them off!
