(112,175 posts)since I lived in the Metroplex myself and I felt that the majority of people were pleasant.
The crime wave against gay people has been going on for months so I can certainly understand why there are trust issues between the gay community and law enforcement since there are so many violent attacks. It doesn't help that many of the attacks also occur in the alleys and side streets that are less patrolled and have less lighting so people are risking their safety in the process (which is no excuse for the violence though).

(38,000 posts)There was a lot of that going on in the 80's - jerkwad jocks driving over from Highland Park to beat up gay people. And since Highland Park is full of Dallas' "finest" and they have their own police department, well. not much was done about it.
