Hillary Clinton strategist Ed Meier launches campaign against Pete Sessions
Another Democrat is seeking to oust Dallas Republican Pete Sessions from Congress.
On Wednesday businessman Ed Meier launched his Democratic campaign for 32nd Congressional District, saying he would challenge the policies of President Donald Trump.
"I'm running for Congress because folks in Dallas deserve a representative who looks out for their needs, not a rubber stamp for Donald Trump," Meier told The Dallas Morning News. "Pete Sessions stands 100 percent of the time with Donald Trump; I'll focus on what families here in Dallas need better-paying jobs where people are treated with dignity, more affordable health care that they can count on and making sure all of our kids are ready to compete in a changing economy."
Meier, 40, is the second major Democratic contender for the seat held by Sessions. Last month civil rights lawyer and former NFL player Colin Allred kicked off his campaign for Congress.
