Dan Wood Announces Run For Congress

If y'all haven't heard already, Dan Wood has announced his run against Jeb Hensarling in Texas' 5th District (East Texas counties: Anderson, Cherokee, Henderson, Kaufman, Van Zandt, parts of Dallas and Wood).

It's no coincidence that 3 days after Wood made it to the front page of the Terrell Tribune, Rep. Hensarling showed up for an impromptu meeting at the Terrell EDC. Hensarling wanted to find out who Dan Wood was and how much of a threat he poses. I actually got to meet Hensarling and sit down at this meeting, and boy does he talk from both sides of his mouth.

The 5th has been under the rule of Hensarling for 15 years; it is time Democrats show up to the voting booths in 2018 to show how much of a threat we can be to Tea Partiers.

I also posted something about Dan Wood a few weeks ago. What some DU folks may not know is that Jeb Hensarling (TX-05) is Chairman of the Financial Services committee, and he is owned and operated by Wall Street, pay-day lenders, and Exxon. Hensarling's pet project is to crush the Consumer Financial Protection Board (CFPB). He held a hearing last week at which called only his Wall St cronies to testify and completely omitted any testimony from those opposed to his anti-CFPB bill.

Hensarling is very slick. He gets more funding from Wall St than any other congress critter. He doesn't give a damn about his constituents, and hasn't done squat for us. He refuses to hold a town hall, but sneaks around the district to speak to secret meetings with INVITED business leaders. Hensarling is a T-party darling and is in the GOP house leadership. What else can I tell you about Hensarling? Oh yes, he is very corrupt and regurgitates Trump's trickle-down economics tax cuts bill for millionaires, of which he is one.

We in the district (TX-05, a gerrymandered rural district in the east Texas bible belt) deserve better than Slick Hensarling. I am excited about Dan Wood's candidacy and intend to work for his campaign. We have a lot of Dems getting fired up about taking our country back and repudiating corrupt Republicans.
