Mexican man to be deported for 6th time -- Man crossed into US to make immigration hearing

McALLEN — A Mexican national will be deported for a sixth time after he was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Randy Crane gave Eduardo Ontiveros-Soto a one-year sentence during a brief hearing Tuesday afternoon.

Border Patrol agents detained the man near Hidalgo after he crossed through Sullivan City late last year.

Ontiveros, 28, of Sinaloa, Mexico, through an interpreter declined to give a statement during his sentencing but his attorney said he was ready for his punishment, and that he was ready to go back to his home state of Sinaloa, where he had a job lined up.
