DPS identifies 2 arrested at anti-fascism protest at Capitol
AUSTIN -- The Texas Department of of Public Safety identified two protesters troopers arrested Saturday while trying to break up a physical altercation in the crowd, according to a DPS press release.
Andrew J. Alemao, 29 of Iowa City, Iowa, is accused of assaulting a trooper, a third degree felony, and attempting to flee. DPS accuses Angelica R. Clark, 24, of Austin, of interfering with Alemaos arrest. She was arrested on a charge of interference with public duty, a Class A misdemeanor.
Alemao was brought to a nearby hospital and treated for an injury he sustained during his arrest, DPS said in a press release. Both protesters were taken to the Travis County Jail.
The march and rally was originally organized as a counterprotest against the planned Dixie Freedom Rally by the Texas Confederate Militia, which was cancelled several weeks ago.
