Teen dies in gun play

Teen dies after he was shot in the head while group played with gun

(GARLAND, Texas) — A Dallas-area teenager has died two days after being shot in the head by another teen as they played with a handgun.
Garland police say the 15-year-old boy died Thursday.

Authorities say 17-year-old Andy Erives is charged with manslaughter in the death. Police have not released the name of the boy who died.

Erives, the shooting victim and another teen were playing with the gun at a home on Tuesday. Police say Erives pointed the weapon at the 15-year-old and fired.
Authorities haven’t said if he intended to shoot or if it was accidental.

Erives fled the home but was later captured and taken to the Garland Detention Center.
It’s not clear if Erives has a lawyer to speak on his behalf.

no law would prevent, if the teen only had a gun, God given right, cold dead hands, and why do you want to take my guns away.

Did I leave anything out?

Smoking marijuana, teenager in illegal possession of a hand gun, leaving the scene, and negligent handling of a handgun should be fired too.

No gun, no gunshot. Locked in a gunsafe, no gunshot. Responsibly caring for a deadly weapon, no gunshot.

Prayers don't work cause God ain't listening. It's not too soon to talk about FORCING under penalty of law gun owners to be RESPONSIBLE. It's not too soon to impose MANDATORY liability insurance that doesn't protect the gun owner but pays for the damages done with their gun.

Yes it should have been locked up in a safe. Mine are. If the gun was stolen, the gun owner must report the theft. I would call the police first and then my insurance company. There are laws for carrying a handgun under age. I hope the victim's family sues the shooter.

I think gun owners should be responsible. I take precautions to secure my guns. Still, you cannot stop a determined thief. Harvey ruined several homes. Thieves could have raided in and taken guns, tools, and/or valuables. Here the few cases of looting were dealt with by law enforcement.

I have insurance on my weapons. I do not understand the insurance you hope for - insurance I buy to protect against a third party doing wrong with a gun I own. State Farm doesn't sell coverage for My cars for damages caused by a car thief. If this insurance is mandated, I will buy it because I am responsible. I am also sure the NRA will sell it and make money.

I will not presume to agrue whether God listens. I think he does.

You can't stop people from speeding, running red lights, driving unsafe vehicles or failing to yield right of way. Still we have laws because the drive to work would be damned exciting without them.

If your car caused damage because through negligence you allowed it to do so whether or not it is in your control you are liable and your insurance should pay to repair the damage and make the victim whole. That doesn't apply to guns 'cause theys special.

If God is listening his/her answer must be a simple 'fuck you, gun vicitm' because all the prayers haven't done anything for any of them.

There are too many guns, too many people who aren't responsible with them and too many people like you who simply say we can't do anything about it.

I'm done with this thread because attempting to talk to a gunner is an exercise in futility. Have the last word, declare victory and go away.
