Howdy Amarillo Dems/Libs/Progressives, i'm about to relocate to Amarillo from DFW

in a few weeks. Kinda dreading it but trying to be supportive of the hubby. If you're a local (Amarillan?), please give some advice which area to stay (safety is a must), good restaurant recommendations and things to do (outdoors activities, music, arts, etc.). We are in early fifties BTW.

Also is there a local Dems club to plug into?

Thanks!

Both have Twitter and Facebook accounts

Bangkok Tokyo has good Yelp ratings:

The downtown area is quite lively, featuring a farmer's market and jazz concerts all summer long.

A good place to keep up with Amarillo activities, concerts and stuff is through the local PBS affiliate:

Great to hear re: farmer's market & jazz concerts, right up our alley. I was happy to find Amarillo has a Market Street grocery store & a Target . Will def'ly need to try Bangkok Tokyo as well, and plug into the Dems clubs in the area.
