New Blue Bell flavor hits stores Friday

Blue Bell Ice Cream announced on social media Thursday morning that another new flavor is in stores today.

Blue Bell has been releasing new flavors all month to celebrate National Ice Cream month, with the famous return of chocolate Fudge Bars, Krazy Kookie Dough, and Cotton Candy.

The newest flavor to hit stores is Key Lime Mango Tart. Key Lime Mango Tart is sweet and tangy key lime ice cream blended with graham cracker crust pieces and a mango sauce swirl.

Sounds and looks yummy!

Not after they made lots of people sick. I worked at a grocery store when blue bell was forced to shut down for several months. I couldn't believe how many people were upset and chomping at the bit waiting for them to come back! I wanted to yell, "hello?! They killed people!" Sheesh!

BB closed every facility, even those not affected, VOLUNTARILY at great cost and risked not being able to re-open.

I am so GLAD this brand is NOT sold in my state I do remember the people who were AFFECTED BY THIS COMPANY. I think it will happen again because this company has a RECORD of not doing the right thing like take care of it's customer's health.........I think their flavors are TWISTED and unhealthy.......

the process but actually rebuilt production lines ground up even in factories that had no problem. Three deaths were linked to the product and while federal authorities only suggested not eating the product from specific facilities , BB shut down all facilities and recalled all their product from all stores. They were also forthcoming about what the problems were and how they were going to do to fix it. What they did not do was deny, minimize or accuse the Fed or state of being over reaching or incompetent.

More companies should should act like BB.

Blue Bell has had two other incidents where listeria was found in the creamery. In both cases they halted production and no ice cream was shipped outside. They were also able to pinpoint exactly how the contamination occurred. It resulted in one of their suppliers eventually declaring bankruptcy and I suspect that the company (that furnished dough for their cookie dough recipes) was responsible for the first outbreak.

They are maintaining a 10 day period for storing ice cream and testing. If anything, I believe that they might have one of the safest products on the market since other creameries have also been found to have listeria.

I hope that you found a company that makes vanilla ice cream that is fortified with additional vitamins and minerals to meet your health requirements. Meanwhile, that leaves more Blue Bell for me to enjoy.

We are the luckiest people on Earth. We have the creamiest ice cream made anywhere - Tillamook. OMG. They use local ingredients. I love their Marionberry pie Ice Cream. Pure heaven. I had to go back east for a few months last year and the one thing I missed most was Tillamook French Vanilla. Or was it the Caramel Toffee Crunch ? Maybe it was the Oregon Hazelnut and Salted Caramel ? No, I think it was the White Chocolate Raspberry. No, I'm sure it was the Mountain Huckleberry.

They also make 16 flavors of scrumptious yoghurt, sour cream, cheeses (Oh the cheese is phenonemal !), custards, and other frozen delights, like Tillamookies (huge ice cream cookies).

Now I need to run to Freddy's . . . . Byeeeeeee.

I've never seen the ice cream around though. The market is saturated and there isn't any freezer space available for competition.

They don't ship. It's all local. They cover WA, OR and ID and that's about it. I begged them to over-night some ice cream to me. I even tried bribery. Didn't work. But they did send me coupons in the mail so that when I got back, I could get some Tillamookies cheap. And of course, I was happy with that. !

I was stationed there in the late 70s and the one thing that still makes my taste buds dance is the thought of HEB sour cream glazed donuts. Had to get them fresh, right out the fryer. Melt in your mouth. Does HEB still make those ?

There is a HEB in town, but it is relatively small. They have a bakery, but there aren't any sour cream glazed donuts. I don't recall the donuts being in the store in Austin back in the 90s either. I lived in the part of Austin that has the highest concentration of Jewish residents so they had a kosher bakery/deli at that particular store.

I was stationed at NAS Kingsville back then when the town was really just a wide spot in the road. On pay day, one of us (whoever got the short straw) would race to HEB at donut time and get boxes of them for the whole crew. There would always be a LINE OUT THE DOOR of people waiting for them, They always sold out fast.

Yum yum.
