Related: About this forumHow could republicans and independents in Texas vote for Ted Cruz?
He's clearly sold out his personal integrity.
Donald Trump claimed that Cruz's father was involved in the JFK assassination (located in Dallas, TX). Donald Trump insulted Cruz's wife, Heidi, for something as vapid as her appearance. Donald Trump called Cruz himself a liar and crazy. All during the 2016 primaries for president.
While Ted tried to maintain his dignity in 2016 by protesting and persevering, he threw it all away by having his bully, Donald Trump, eat his lunch last night in the form of a rally. By letting Trump embrace him, praise him, Cruz also capitulated and allowed all the prior insults to be forgiven.
As horrible as Ted Cruz is as a human, I would have had a sliver of respect for him had he not passively allowed Trump to insult his family and himself.
Texans, your senator is a sell-out. If he sold himself, then he will sell you out as well.

(112,214 posts)but how did the greeting between Trump and Heidi go? Although she is wealthy and tone-deaf, I have a small amount of sympathy for Heidi while Trump is making a move on her.

(1,896 posts)They'll swallow their objections in the name of a Court which will permit guns, prevent abortions, and allow their god to permeate society. They need a GOP Senate to do that, and that's where Cruz comes in. Most of the rest will tell themselves they didn't vote for Cruz, they just voted straight-ticket. That's how they'll rationalize it.
Ignoring those who just think these two are great because something. For crying out loud, half the independents in Texas are independent in the first place because they're too far right for the GOP.
