Whistleblower fired after complaining about Dallas tribal center leader's 'Kick-a-Hoe' joke

Native American community members are calling for two leaders of the Urban Inter-Tribal Center of Texas to be fired after they were accused of using racial slurs during a staff meeting this month.

The Intertribal Community Council of Texas spoke out against the center — which offers medical and dental care, job training and other services to Native American people — after a staff member reported that the center’s interim CEO and clinical director made the remarks during a leadership meeting.

In a letter to the center's human resources director, Veronica Arredondo accused interim CEO Kendria Taylor of responding to community concerns about the center by saying she is part of the “Kick-a-Hoe” tribe.

Clinical director Deborah Breshears retorted that she was a member of the “Slap-a-Hoe” tribe, and the two laughed, Arredondo said.

Does that mean that "racial", ethnic and cultural slurs are not appropriate either? abqtommy May 2019 #3

Using demeaning, sexist slurs against women are never "funny."

What I don't get is that she was fired for this FB post:

This is the CEO & Clinical Director of UITCT that provides serves to thousands of Native American Indians. These two women made derogatory comments against the DFW Native American Indian Community they serve, by calling them the “Kick-A-Hoe” & “Slap-A-Hoe” tribe. They should be terminated

The Director and CEO admitted to saying this but the termination letter stated she “behaved in an unethical manner by sharing false and defaming information about Kendria Taylor and Deborah Breshears on social media.” Both can't be true.

Maybe we should all work to get the word out on that and shut down the comedy clubs, music, movies and tv shows? (sarcasm) I wrote my original post thinking in context of people I know who maybe should know better but don't deserve to be fired.
