Leander settles lawsuit by former city manager for $349,000

The city of Leander has settled a lawsuit for $349,000 filed against it by former City Manager Kent Cagle, who was fired in May.

Cagle alleged in the lawsuit that he was fired after reporting to law enforcement authorities that a city official had violated the law.

The lawsuit, filed in August, did not name the city official that Cagle said had broken the law. The suit also alleged the city breached Cagle’s contract by refusing to pay him the severance required by the contract.

“The city of Leander and Kent Cagle are pleased to report that they have amicably resolved all outstanding claims between them,” said a statement in the settlement agreement.
