Poll: Texans split on impeachment of Trump

Texas voters are almost evenly split on the impeachment of President Donald Trump, according to a new University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll.

When asked if congressional impeachment investigations of Trump are justified, 46% said yes and 42% said no. Only 13% of Republicans agreed that the investigations are justified, compared with 84% of Democrats.

According to the internet poll of 1,200 registered voters conducted Oct. 18-27, 6% of voters said they were unsure and 6% had no opinion. The margin of error was plus or minus 2.83 percentage points.

When asked if Trump’s actions merit early removal from office, Texans were split again, with 43% of voters saying yes and 44% opposed.

2. Turnout's going to be important in Texas next Fall

Voter turnout’s going to be important next fall. No matter where we’ll be by primary season, our best chance to take Texas away from Trump next fall will be to emphasize to our base and also to other people disgusted or infuriated with Orange Julius that if they want to get him out of the White House, they will have to personally vote instead of lying back and flaking out.

I realize that “letting George do it” is a phrase that has gone out-of-fashion. But the “letting George do it” is a mindset that primes us for defeat. If we want to get rid of the rotter in the White House, we’ll have to do it ourselves.
