Two Angelo State students arrested after fight sparked by COVID-19 poster

SAN ANGELO — Two Angelo State University students have been arrested for fighting after coronavirus posters were placed on an Asian student's dorm.

About 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2020 ASU police responded to call about a fight at Texan Hall that possibly involved a shotgun. Officers found two men and two witnesses, according to the police report.

The student who reported the incident told officers his roommate got in a fight with his friend, records state. Officers went to one of the dorm rooms and discovered part of the door frame on the floor. Shane Alan Stumpf, a 20-year-old student from Comfort, stood in the dorm room with a bleeding nose and another witness.

Stumpf and the caller had placed some posters about coronavirus testing on the door of an Asian student's dorm, and that student became angry, Stumpf told officers.
