Employees who don't return to work won't be eligible for unemployment, per TWC

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — As retail, restaurants, movie theaters and malls are permitted to reopen in Texas on Friday, workers who choose not to return to their jobs will not be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

"If your business is safe and meeting those guidelines and you do not go back to work, you will not be eligible for unemployment insurance," TWC spokesperson Cisco Gamez said.

Gamez said part of ongoing eligibility includes being willing and able to work all the days and times required for the type of work someone is seeking.

This comes as the unemployment numbers in the Borderplex region continue to rise.

Coronavirus in Iowa: State tells workers to return to jobs or lose their benefits
Iowa is warning furloughed workers that they will lose their unemployment benefits if they refuse to return when their employer calls them back to work.

https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/money/business/2020/04/28/coronavirus-iowa-state-tells-workers-return-jobs-lose-benefits/3039117001/

Deputy director, Ryan West, says you won’t continue getting unemployment if you are called back to work. He says if your employer had to lay you off and they are calling you back, you should be able to go back to work.

West says if you do not go back to work, it will be considered a “voluntary quit,” and your unemployment will be suspended. There are some exceptions, including a diagnosis of COVID-19 that prevents you from working.

West says every case will be different and the individual issues will dictate what happens. But, he says if someone has a note from a doctor that says you should be out then that would allow you to stay home.

Because dying for the economy is the new patriotism.

Y'all are not in the club so don't get no fancy ideas about being bailed out or holding on to any benefits. That's only for the people who matter in this country and you should know by now who they are and that they are persons, you are numbers; mere, replaceable human resources who breed more fodder for profit and wealth.

Be proud, America! How often do you get the chance to go out there and die for your country, ah, economy...or get cut off to starve and be homeless, etc. It's YOUR choice!

Thanks for playing! We WIN!

unsafe conditions, everyone of these people should be sued until their back teeth ache. And if rump signs an executive order ordering these people to go back to work, just try it. I guarantee you that rump has locked himself into a losing battle and furthermore, has lost the election by even more of a lopsided margin.

Money over lives. Greed is not a pretty picture and all of those who are pushing for early return to work etc. will face the consequences of their bad decisions, including criminal charges too.

seriously abandons all pretenses of being safe, etc. and isn't (since it can't be sued).

Hopefully the powers that be will see this and block it.

pass crap w/o the House's say on any bills. Sure, he may rant and rave about it, but rump wants his 4th CV relief bill to go out, and turtleneck is caught in the middle (the democratic House and the idiot so called president).

What I would give to be a wall in the negotiating rooms of the Senate and / or House. I think things will get rough and tough finally (imho).

12. That's fine. Rump will throw up his usual hissy fit, and we'll all get a show to watch for free!

Small businesses (whom the 4th bill (?) would help), would be screaming like heck at the delay that turtleneck is causing because of his so called demand(s).
