423 coronavirus cases reported in federal prison outbreak in Tarrant County
Tarrant County reported 423 cases of coronavirus Sunday in a federal prison outbreak that led to the highest one-day increase in a North Texas countys tally since the pandemic began.
Two more coronavirus-related deaths were also reported in the county, bringing the total to 103.
The new prison cases, along with 62 elsewhere, raised Tarrant Countys total to 3,695. And at the Federal Medical Center Fort Worth, figures from the Federal Bureau of Prisons suggest the countys count of cases there could jump at least 30 percent.
The outbreak reported Sunday has swept through the 1,463 inmates at FMC Fort Worth, a prison for men who have special medical needs or are seriously ill. Carswell Federal Medical Center, also in Fort Worth, has reported one case.
