Dallas County hits new record high hospitalizations as county health officials stress wearing face masks
Dallas County reported 395 coronavirus cases Saturday and set a new record for COVID-19 hospitalizations as county health officials stressed the importance of wearing a mask to combat rising infections.
The county also reported that two Dallas men in their 60s died from the virus. One was a resident of a long-term care facility and the other was critically ill in the hospital.
The county has now had 16,437 positive cases and 313 deaths, more than a third of which are associated with long-term care facilities. It does not report a number of recoveries.
Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said the data emphasizes the need for the order passed by county commissioners Friday, which says businesses in the county have to require employees and customers to wear a mask, with a few exceptions.
