Travis County sets another daily record in new coronavirus cases: 418
For the second day in a row and the third time this week, Austin-Travis County health officials on Saturday reported another record number of newly confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease linked to the coronavirus.
Saturdays tally of 418 new cases is a 41.6% jump over the last single-day record of 295 new cases, which was set Friday.
The previous single-day record for new lab-confirmed cases in Travis County was set Wednesday, with 220 new cases. County officials did not release data on Thursday as they updated the software on their dashboard.
The 29 new hospital admissions on Saturday pushed the seven-day rolling average number of hospitalizations a key figure that will determine future mitigation strategies and an indicator of hospital capacity to an all-time high of 28.6, continuing a troubling upward trend.
