Wayland Baptist president released from hospital after testing positive for COVID-19

Wayland Baptist University announced Thursday that the school’s president, Bobby Hall, was discharged from a hospital after battling the coronavirus for several days.

According to a statement, Hall and his wife had been traveling for the Independence Day weekend when he began feeling COVID-19 symptoms and was hospitalized Saturday.

Hall’s wife, who is a registered nurse, also tested positive but is not experiencing symptoms at this time. They are remaining in quarantine as they recover.

The Plainview/Hale County Health Department reported a total of 707 COVID-19 cases in the county, with 388 residents who have recovered and 311 cases still active as of Wednesday.
