Texas reaches nearly 200 single-day coronavirus deaths
State health officials reported nearly 200 deaths Wednesday, a single-day high for the state.
The 197 new deaths bring the statewide death toll of the virus to 4,348 fatalities.
Although the number of coronavirus patients in Texas hospitals reached a record 10,893, it was only a slight increase from yesterday’s total.
The statewide number has exceeded 10,000 for 13 days in a row, a level that health officials say is straining the health care system, although hospitalizations have plateaued over the last two weeks.
