black players on about 1/3 of the football teams we played. If a ref heard a racial slur, you'd be ejected from the game, then suspended by our athletic director, if you weren't kicked off the team.

One of the best athlete at our neighboring rival was a white kid named Bruce that we all naturally hated. Rumor had it that he had gotten his girlfriend pregnant. He was on their basketball team too, and some jackasses brought a sign that said "Poppa Bruce". That sign lasted about 30 seconds. Our AD went up in the stands, took it and escorted the two that had it out of the building.

That's Trump's America. If that school was around back when I played, I wouldn't be surprised if they wouldn't put up with that shit then.

I attended St. Maries High School and graduated in 1981. I don't think there was one black student - not just the football teams, but the entire student body - in the entire Intermountain League.

We liked this area because of the racial diversity and the two universities nearby, one of which both I and my daughter attended. However, since the 2016 election, there has been a large amount of racial discord at that school. It sucks.
