1. Interesting that TX seems to think secession would be good, but let a little bit of winter
Come their way and the gov asks for the DEMOCRATIC President Joe Biden to declare a federal emergency!!
And of course the REAL president who cares about the country, even thou the request came from a state that did everything they could to interfere in his fair and rightful election immediately responded in THEIR hour of need. |

2. Secession is still a fringe idea in Texas
For every idiot driving a truck with a secede sticker, there’s probably 50 other drivers rolling their eyes.
And yeah, this winter storm is a real world lesson in why Texas is part of a much greater democratic republic. |

21. No offense
But I might suggest you do more than roll your eyes. If there are 50 sane people to one nutjob, that state should be a utopia by now. (I am from North Carolina, and we are in the same boat. The nutty few in power over the hoardes of decent people. Yet, they are still in power... so, how many 'decent' people are there in my home state? How can these idiots keep on getting elected?)

6. Because our Real and True President has integrity. It's a virtue foreign to them.

14. Stop it...Texas does not think secession is good
The rep that filed the bill was given shitty committee assignments.
He filed it for attention. |

4. Lost power twice tonight, once for 15 minutes, and once for 30 minutes.
Could be from rolling blackouts already. Both since 1:50 am.

5. Sheesh. It's really serious down there.
February 2019 we finally got a whole house standby generator installed. I got fed up with throwing out food after hurricanes and ice storms. Freezing for days during an ice storm or heavy snow. It's worth every $. I go around thanking God out loud when the power goes out. A neighbor few doors down got theirs same time as we did. Thx to my husband who kinda encouraged them. Now a buddy 2 doors up just had his installed last week. It's not a luxury. An improvement to your residence.
Be safe and well! 💟 |

7. Got a solar generator going when I lose power.
TV , lights and ceramic heaters if needed , but have a gas stove for cooking and heating if needed. Got it for hurricanes , but never expected this from the cold. This is just the first one, and the next one expected to have colder temperatures.

9. Well, that's a plus. I'm sorry that y'all are getting this severe weather
that's unusual that far south. It seems like one thing after another for us peoples. I have my Tradition of Faith, but truth be told, some days I just don't know how much more we all can withstand. We get persecuted for 4+ years straight, then the pandemic, now ridiculous weather. It hurts my soul. Sure there's been human suffering since time immemorial and mb lots of us had 'life is just a bowl of cherries'. Yah, we're resilient, but haven't experienced anything close to this en masse.

We have a small camping solar kit. Would be a good time to get it out and use it.

8. Has been a weird experience storing frozen food on back porch
Been meaning to get a deep freeze, but heck, the weather brought me one this time.
An in-line generator is on our list of priorities when we shop for a new house in the somewhat near future. Hi, Sprinkleeninow ![]() |

11. Lived in Southern CT b4 relocating. Not even 30 minutes from Long Island Sound and beaches.
We had some pretty bad snowstorms and ice, but really never experienced any numerous power outages. Mb with the climate change situation, weather just got more wacky severe.

12. Lol, the most snow I've seen was in Quebec
Bunch of middle schoolers from Texas diving into the accumulated snow in front of some govt office at midnight the first evening of our trip. Really enjoyed it the whole week.
I have seen snow in Vegas, and that was downright surreal. Otherwise, the sporadic cold snaps and flurries have been nothing compared to this. I can’t believe the temperatures. It’s 10°FFffff! We’ll make it through best we can, and thankfully, I don’t have to drive anywhere! ![]() |

Am looking at how to deal with crazy-wealthy hosing folks with bad information. The thing is down here, the information gap has gotten out of control in recent years.
