Video shows Texas lawmaker near Capitol steps as mob clashed with police officers
A newly surfaced video appears to show state Rep. Kyle Biedermann, R-Fredericksburg, near the steps of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 as a violent mob clashed with police and moments after rioters breached the building's outer barricades.
The video of Biedermann, first reported by KSAT, was shared to Parler, the social media site that has drawn supporters of former President Donald Trump who see it as an alternative to Twitter and Facebook.
ProPublica reviewed and published more than 500 videos uploaded to Parler, including the video of Biedermann, which is timestamped 1 p.m. Eastern time. The first barriers were breached minutes before that.
The video shows a crowd of people holding Trump flags and chanting "USA" outside the Capitol building. Biedermann appears around the 29-second mark, maskless and standing back on a raised platform next to other onlookers.
