Texas State Trooper shot Friday night near Mexia

Multiple news sources reported Friday night that a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper was shot along Highway 84 near Mexia in Limestone County.

A City of Mexia Facebook page described the suspect as a black male wearing all black.

The condition of the trooper was unknown as of 10:30 p.m. Friday.

No arrests have been made at this time.

3. DPS Trooper in critical condition after shooting identified; suspect at large

A Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper is in critical condition after being shot outside of Mexia.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Officers Association, an organization that represents commissioned law enforcement officers in Texas, identified the Trooper as Chad Walker.
