(14,640 posts)There were NO reported deaths or hospitalizations.
The trials differed in that J&J had marginally more mild infections, but the conditions of the test were much different. It was conducted after the variants arrived and it included more under developed countries.
So it's best to wait for data before damning it. 86% may not be 94%, but it isn't zero either.
And they are running trials to see if a second dose will up the effectiveness against mild infections.
Just sayin......

(25,428 posts)Many places in Austin are completely booked for the next couple weeks, including many that show "in stock" on your first link.
All of the HEBs within 25 miles of me, for example, show in stock. None of them have appointments available. They've indicated that they'll be opening up more days soon.
Your second link shows availability for all three vaccines, not just J&J. Same applies - many show vaccine in stock, but it's already accounted for in scheduled appointments. In addition, some private clinics, etc., are only offering to their members at present so it may show they have availability, but it's not to the public.
In both cases, it's best to check company websites or call. Local reports are indicating that the best method seems to be to check the large providers (CVS, Walgreens, HEB, healthcare providers, etc.) frequently as many of them are updating at least daily and many more frequently. People can also join the Williamson County waitlist even if they don't live in Williamson County.
