Matthew McConaughey did more than alright, alright, alright in a new poll surveying support for Texas' next governor.
The actor, 51, who hasn't announced his candidacy yet but has teased interest in running, beat incumbent Greg Abbott by double digits.
Some 45% of Texas registered voters said they would vote for McConaughey compared to 33% who would vote for Abbott and 22% who would select someone else.
The poll, released Sunday by The Dallas Morning News and the University of Texas at Tyler, surveyed 1,126 registered voters.

(22,252 posts)which frankly I would prefer him to do.
McConauhey could primary Abbott. Should he get the nomination and win, remember the Governor of Texas is not have nearly as powerful as the Lt Governor. We officially have an outstanding candidate in Mike Collier who just announced. He is going to need $$ to win this thing.
I have no clue who will be the Dem nominee.

(11,885 posts)And McConaughey's polling shows it. I know many republicans are finished with Abbott now , and will not vote for him again, no matter who else runs. We need a strong Democrat to step in now and at LT. Gov position too. Texas is waking up realizing republicans are hurting us, unless you have lots of money. I think Abbott is finished here too. He's a liar , and corrupt, and a complete failure.
