Greg Abbott vows to defund state Legis after voting restrictions bill fails, threatening salaries

Greg is being a baby and a bad sport

Gov. Greg Abbott said Monday he would veto the section of the state budget that funds the Legislature, hours after a Democratic walkout killed his priority elections bill.

"No pay for those who abandon their responsibilities," Abbott said in a tweet. "Stay tuned."

Late Sunday night, enough Democrats left the House to break a quorum and block passage of the elections bill, Senate Bill 7, before a midnight deadline. Calling the bill's failure "deeply disappointing," Abbott quickly made clear he would call a special session to get it passed, though he has not specified a timeline.

I don't understand why Abbott & Co. don't die of sheer meanness. But here we are. We've got to deal with them.

Republican politicians who formerly had ambitions to be President can see the writing on the wall. The Republican base will support America becoming a dictatorship, so why stop with President? Why not shoot for becoming Supreme Leader instead? It’s easier; you don’t have to earn the votes, you just have to stack the deck and have a willing cadre behind you.

It’s already getting meaner on the streets. During the run up to the election, nobody ever called me out about my Biden-Harris bumper sticker. Now people are saying shit to me. Stuff like, “you better take that off your car or you’re going to be sorry, heh, heh.” (Real funny, a**hole).

If Republicans retake the House, and keep the Senate, all progress stops. If they win the Presidency, our lives won’t ever be the same. I’m not kidding. I think we’ll be like the Germans who were’nt Hitler supporters. After Hitler took power, the kept their eyes down when they walked the streets and stayed home as much as possible, worried they might get on the wrong side of some neighborhood Nazi. In our case, we’ll be steering clear of the folks in the red hats. And they’ll be emboldened, enjoying their power to intimidate and even terrorize.

That was what 15 years ago? The Texas Republicans were SURPRISE out of control so the Texas Dems took off. Apparently there was concern that the Rangers could be used to catch and return the Dems so they left the state.

to Ardmore OK to get out of the jurisdiction of the state police.

Wisconsin Democrats did the same thing, went to Illinois to obstruct Scott Wanker.

I like seeing Democrats take action. I hope this gets enough attention that it wakes certain US Senators the fuck up.

If the governor vetoes Article 10, then the people that will feel the pain are the staffers and those working at legislative agencies such as the Auditor's Office and the Sunset Commission. Isn't really lovely that the governor would target those that were doing their jobs?

Well, then, it looks like Republicans will never be paid again, doesn't it?
