Here is an email that I got tonight

Dear Friend:
Next Wednesday, I have the honor of joining nine of my Democratic House and Senate colleagues to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris to discuss the ongoing fight to protect voting rights in Texas and across our country.

I wanted to make sure that you were one of the first to hear the news.
Earlier this evening, in response to the White House announcement about this important meeting, I released the following joint statement with Texas Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Carol Alvarado. Read it below.

Chris

Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Chris Turner and Texas Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Carol Alvarado issued the following joint statement:

“We look forward to the opportunity to speak with Vice President Harris on one of the most pressing civil rights issues facing our state and our nation. As state senators and representatives, we will continue to fight with every tool we have against discriminatory legislation that will make it harder for all Texans to vote, and that will create even more barriers to access for voters in marginalized communities. It is imperative that the U.S. Congress does the same.

“In our meeting with Vice President Harris, we intend to thank her and President Biden for speaking out against vote suppression legislation and for supporting efforts to protect voting rights across the country. We also intend to underscore the importance of passing HR 1 and other critical reforms, and urge those in power to take action as soon as possible — for the sake of all Texans and all Americans.”

The following members will participate in the meeting:

Rep. Chris Turner
(D-Grand Prairie)
Chair, House Democratic Caucus Sen. Carol Alvarado
(D-Houston)
Chair, Senate Democratic Caucus
Rep. Nicole Collier
(D-Fort Worth)
Chair, Texas Legislative Black Caucus Sen. Beverly Powell
(D-Burleson)
Rep. Rafael Anchía
(D-Dallas)
Chair, Mexican American Legislative Caucus Sen. Royce West
(D-Dallas)
Rep. Jessica González
(D-Dallas)
Rep. Gina Hinojosa
(D-Austin)
Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer
(D-San Antonio)
Rep. Senfronia Thompson
(D-Houston)

These are all heavy hitters in Texas Democratic politics
