Andrews commissioners pass resolution opposing high-level nuclear waste in county

Andrews County Commissioners on Thursday unanimously voted to sign a resolution stating their opposition to the storage of high-level nuclear waste in the county.

The vote comes as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission considers an application from Waste Control Specialists to store high-level waste in Andrews County.

However, the vote from county commissioners may have no impact on the approval of WCS’ application, as that decision is made at the federal level.
