Local Matters: Jake Ellzey wins Texas special election - CBS News

Texas Representative Jake Ellzey won the state's special election to fill late Congressman Ron Wright's seat in the 6th District. He beat Wright's widow, Susan Wright, even though she ran with an endorsement by former President Trump. Gromer Jeffers, a Dallas Morning News political reporter, joins CBSN's "Red & Blue" host Elaine Quijano with his analysis. Aired on 07/28/2021.

Ellzey (Republican Party) ran in a special election to the U.S. House to represent Texas' 6th Congressional District. He won in the special general runoff election on July 27, 2021.

Evidently the good news here is that Former Orange Lardo endorsed his opponent but this guy won.
The bad news is that a reTHUG is still a reTHUG.

I'm guessing that the good news is that the candidate TFG supported lost - which we can hope is the beginning of a trend.

If there's a Democrat running against him, that would still be the better choice - but a Trump spokesperson said it was the Democrats who turned out to vote for Ellzey.

There was no way the Democrat was going to win, and everyone knew it.

They had a blanket primary for this seat for some reason and the top two finishers were both Republicans. A helluva choice for Democrats, but Trump made it a little easier when he endorsed Wright.
