Sprouts to Enter Houston Market

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Sprouts Farmers Market here said it will open the first of five planned Houston-area stores in late March.

The 25,000-square-foot store — the chain's 24th in Texas — will be located in the Houston suburb of Katy.

As part of its community involvement, Sprouts said it will donate unsold, edible but not marketable groceries to local hunger relief agencies; help non-profit organizations raise money by offering gift cards at a 5% discount, which they can resell at full price; make regular in-kind donations to local causes that address healthy living and eating; raise money for autism research; and promote an annual holiday food drive to help feed the hungry.

Sprouts we have (in SoCal). The people are friendly, they have a good bulk selection and their prices are not over the top. I bought their store brand bread today for the first time. It is good and I'm picky because I usually make my own.

but that's a helluva long drive for me. If I'm on that side of town anyway, I'd rather shop at Phoenicia

Have a Sprouts up the highway in Round Rock that I haven't shopped at so I looked it up. My first job in high school was at a Sun Harvest and one of my fave stores in Austin was the one on Northwood(?) across from the Shriners. Didn't know what Sprouts was- think I'll go check it out today.

Sprouts has decent prices, Whole Foods is way overpriced.
I like to buy bulk items, my favorite is yogurt covered pretzels.

The Phoenix-based neighborhood grocery chain is planning five stores for the Houston area.

Last fall, the company’s local real estate scout said a site is being considering inside the Loop. Other local stores are planned in the Copperfield Village Shopping Center at FM 529 and Texas 6, and in Spring Cypress Village at FM 249 and Spring Cypress Road.

None one of these stores will be close to me, dammit
