Beto O'Rourke announces campaign meet and greet Saturday in Texarkana

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Candidate for governor Beto O'Rourke on Thursday announced a local campaign stop scheduled for this weekend.

O'Rourke, D-El Paso, will "meet and greet" voters at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Twin City Event and Conference Center, 2101 Texas Blvd., according to his campaign.

Since announcing his candidacy Nov. 15, O'Rourke has made campaign appearances in multiple Texas cities. Such wide-ranging travel was a hallmark of his losing 2018 senate campaign, during which he visited all 254 Texas counties.

He last visited Texarkana in June as part of a voting rights and registration campaign called Powered By People.

O'Rourke is challenging incumbent Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who is asking voters to elect him to a third consecutive four-year term in November 2022.
