This video is long (44 minutes), and the quality isn’t excellent, but I think it’s a crucial moment in regular sessions because it highlighted the GOP’s embrace of ignorance and hate.

Hell, Shell, they invented ignorance and hate . . .

I just can't believe what they're doing to Texas. It makes my heart literally break. I graduated from college in San Antonio. Some of the best of years of my life were spent there. I met my husband there, as well as my best friend for life. We're all true blue, died in the wool Dems. I lived for months with a Mexican family who took me and my daughter in when we were homeless at one time. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences in my life. We had four generations living together. Suz and I were treated just like family, except I dated two of the brothers (gryn). The sister and I were college mates. We went to Fiesta together and hit all the parades and all the parties. We hit the rodeos. We had a blast. The sister and I were both about 5' tall, and we could go where ever we wanted through all of this, drunk as skunks on margaritas, and no one bothered us in the least... and believe me, at least SHE was cute as a bug in a rug! (I wasn't too bad at the time, myself!). Even her brothers kept there distance to give us free rein to ogle the male cuties. We had a few who'd start up conversations but no one molested us, no one got handsy, let alone any worse than that. We just had fun! And ohhhh, the cascarones! Black, white, brown, every color you can think of... walking, running, moseying around and mingling and having fun with each other. it was so good!!!!

And abbot has destroyed all this good will???? I knew I'd never go back after the Deep Water Horizon destroyed the Gulf. But I thought there might be some hope for the bigger cities. But if this is so deep as it's affecting Houston, and even Austin... AUSTIN (!!!!) Then, I figure San Antonio is a foregone conclusion. This Witch ain't gone no business back there. And what a sad shame for such a beautiful part of the country.

But I guess the South can just go ahead and secede for all I care. First and foremost, I'm an American. If they don't like it... let them leave. They've sure screamed it at us enough time in the 60's and 70's. This time *I* mean it. At least WE didn't try to start a coup against the government.

Just before I left Texas, Cisneros was still in at San Antonio. You have no idea how much I loved that city. Moved back to KC to help my Dad when illness hit. But I didn't stay too long; did a turnaround back to San Antonio. Talk about being split between two places! In the end, I realized SA was my past; KC was my future. KC doesn't feel like it's my end, tho I'm sure getting a bit long in the tooth to be moving anymore! (LOL) Still, it'd sure be nice to live in an overwhelming blue city or state for a change!

It's gotten improvements:
We have a Primo bus that comes every 10-15 minutes during business hours that goes from the Medical Center to downtown.

We also have many more parks and trails.
They were non-existent 20-30 years ago. Now they're all over town! They follow the creek paths.

You can literally walk from Our Lady of the Lake University to Medina River State Natural Area (also new) without crossing one single city street!

You can also walk from Ingram Park Mall (Confluence of Leon, Huebner and Culebra Creeks) all around the Northside to Ft Sam without crossing one single city street!

We also have Government Canyon State Natural Area just south of Helotes.

San Antonio was once known as a city with almost no outdoor opportunities. It was really bad. I remember having to go to Fredrich Park or Eisenhower Park, if I wanted to "hike", but that is not true anymore. In 1995, we took the Boy Scouts down to Leon Creek, "to clean it up" and pushed for a trail along Leon Creek because there was nowhere anyone could walk. We've changed.

Our city government is still good
