8. What the Democrats must do is get feet on the ground to not only find out why so many mail-in

ballots were rejected, but what needs to be done to correct the situation.

While it is understandable to express our frustration, the worst thing we can do is just complain and throw our arms up and say it is futile.

Voters forget to either put their drivers license or last 4 digits of their SSN number before mailing them out. The party is getting them to come in and correct them.

I suspect that is 40% of vote by mail applications which started coming in at the elections centers in January.

It isn't just that voters forgot to write it on the ballot - it is also that they don't remember which one they used when they originally registered to vote and that is what is needed to get a ballot returned to the voter. Or that they did not even know it was needed. We used both because we registered here in 1989 and probably did not have Texas driver's licenses when we registered but since we can't remember using both is better.

This impacts both parties and probably Republicans more than Democrats.

I tracked my mail in ballot on the Elections website. It was mailed back to me Feb 21. It arrived yesterday. Mailed within the county. I will be taking it with me when I go vote today so I can surrender it and vote conventionally

At least I know my ballots for any runoff elections and the general will be mailed much earlier because I do not have to go through the application part again.

The elections office does make every effort to contact voters either by mail or phone to let them know there is a problem. The good news is that if your application is rejected, and you can't get your ballot you can still vote at the polls.

13. I believe 50+ of our 254 counties are using Voter Center Jurisdiction so we can

use any polling location in the county, regardless of our home precinct. This has been a real game changer.

Our voters print their ballots when they finish selection, then walk them over to the scanner. Their choices are printed out on the paper and there is a QR code as well.

We use the electronic I-pad type voter lookup which generates the exact ballot the voter needs, regardless of their home precinct.

It's very cool. The registration lists are locked down about 25 days prior to the start of early voting and nothing can be added to them until after the election.

Nothing goes through the internet. The scanner has the final tabulations, and the number of scanned ballots has to match the total number of checkins. The election judge prints out tabulation tapes from the scanner; 2 copies go with the scanner to elections central and the judge keeps one. We have to keep them for 3 years. There are also tabulation tapes for the check in tools.

All equipment arrives locked and sealed with seal numbers recorded. When we close the polls, we lock and seal everything and record those seal numbers. The scanned ballots are locked and sealed into the bin which they drop into.

Every single thing we do is documented and sent to the elections center. I absolutely love our system.

If every state/city/county used a system like ours and the voting center jurisdiction, there would be far less to worry about.

It may be hard to get to the point where you actually cast your ballot, but once that ballot is cast I am confident it is secure.

Everyone who has doubts or issues about their local election processes should serve as an election worker to see how it is done.

I hovered over a number of our counties and we have several counties with fewer than 500 registered voters!!! Those counties can do things the old fashioned way with hand cast and hand counted paper if they so desire.
