Texas is NOT going to secede from the union
It doesn't matter how many want crazy Republican whack-a-doodle MoFo Bubbas want to secede and not pay fed income taxes. The vast vast majority of Texans do not want to turn in their US citizenship for the uncertainly of citizenship in the Republic of Texas. All those texas ranchers and farmers are not going to give up their farm subsidies.

4. Here in El Paso there are a lot of us who would love to secede from Texas.
Becoming part of New Mexico is our dream. The people who are actively involved in a political party are a small subset of voters. UT Tyler polls show about 23% as strong Republicans. Out of these maybe a fourth (WAG) are actively involved in the party.

5. Plus, SCOTUS ruled that states can't unilaterally secede.
There's no mechanism for it in the Constitution. A constitutional amendment would need to be passed to allow it.
Texas v. White, 74 U.S. 700 (1868) Primary Holding States do not have the right to unilaterally secede from the United States, so the Confederate states during the Civil War always remained part of the nation. [link:https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/74/700/|] Now, do I think Texas GOP nutjobs care what SCOTUS or the Constitution says? No I don't. I'm just sharing info. |

6. It's nothing but talk
The people saying this are not elected. They're a bunch of yahoos.
Their opinion carries about as much weight as a post on DU |
