Texas Just Sent a Warning Shot to the Rest of the U.S. Economy
Consumer spending in Texas has collapsed, and the data from the Dallas Fed is worse than anyone expected. Retail sales activity fell off a cliff in May, hitting levels not seen since April 2020. Inventories are piling up, work hours are being slashed, and employers are cutting back.
Is this just a Texas problem or is it the first sign of a nationwide consumer retrenchment?
In this video, we break down the shocking data, why it matters, and how it could ripple across the entire U.S. economy in the months ahead.
If the U.S. consumer breaks, its game over.

(1,007 posts)Kind of tanking. Sales are way down. One of the first signs of a recession. This is what happens when the CEO's endorse Trump. It has hugely backfired on them. RV's are not a must have item.

(4,747 posts)of a tanking economy; knew about the underwear thing. Also how many houses start going up for sale; the last few recessions i noticed that about six months before the official pronouncement of recession more houses would go up, making for a buyers market no one could afford. Right now just in a two block area of my neighborhood, there are about six or eight homes up for sale. Ironically, there are three new neighborhoods being built, and one still building new sections.
