There are more than 6,000 fertilizer facilities in the United States, but few stock ammonium nitrate, the chemical considered a suspect in the explosion that ripped through West, Texas, last week.

But it's not a danger that exists in many places. That's because the chemical, once a popular fertilizer, is rarely used these days



So if it is rarely used these days - why was this plant increasing their supply of it?
