MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Senator Bernie Sanders will be joining Gov. Phil Scott’s pandemic briefing on Friday morning.

Sen. Sanders is expected to join the briefing via Zoom to talk about the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill that was just signed into law on Thursday.
Governor Scott indicated this week that he would announce plans on Friday to loosen some of the rules for social gatherings, including restaurant capacity limits.
We also could get an update on the vaccination rollout. As of Thursday, 24.4% of Vermonters have received at least one dose of vaccine. Registration is currently open for Vermonters 65+, those 16+ with underlying health conditions, teachers and staff, some public safety employees, corrections staff, 911 operators, and some police.
As of Thursday, Vermont health officials reported 128 new coronavirus cases for a total of 16,500. There have been a total of 211 deaths. The state’s percent positive seven-day average is 1.7%. A total of 339,183 people have been tested, and 13,786 have recovered.
