"Big Shots" Vaccination Center reopening in Charlottesville

"Big Shots" was/is the nickname for a vaccination center opened in a former Big Lots store. I suspect that this reopening was because a rush for boosters is expected.

Virginia Department of Health to Open Community Vaccination Center for all COVID-19 Vaccines, including Booster Shots

Appointments being taken for the former Big Lots store at Seminole Square

The Virginia Department Health’s (VDH) will open a Community Vaccination Center (CVC) in the Blue Ridge Health District on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the former Big Lots store in Seminole Square in Charlottesville, Va. The CVC will be managed and operated by VDH partners AshBritt – IEM.

Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines will be available at no cost by appointment or walk-in. This site will offer vaccines to individuals who need their first or second dose, those who are immunocompromised and need a third dose, and those who are eligible to receive a booster shot (Pfizer only).

The former Big Lots store, formerly the UVA Health COVID-19 vaccine center, will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

To find an appointment, visit vaccinate.virginia.gov or call 877-VAX-IN-VA (877-829-4682, TTY users call 7-1-1). Assistance is available in English, Spanish, and more than 100 other languages.

If you are receiving your second dose, third dose, or booster shot, bring your COVID-19 vaccine card or vaccine record with QR code. If you need a copy of your vaccine record, visit vaccinate.virginia.gov.

Vaccination remains the best way to end the pandemic, and unvaccinated individuals are at the highest risk of severe illness due to COVID-19. Everyone 12 or older who lives or works in Virginia is eligible to be vaccinated. To learn more about COVID-19, visit www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/covid-19-in-virginia/.

I've read that Moderna recipients have higher levels of antibodies over time than Pfizer recipients. The dose with Moderna is higher.

I'm a Moderna recipient and I'm not worried, just careful. My guess is that before the end of the month we'll see Moderna boosters generally available.

Moderna has submitted data for booster approval, but FDA (some group?) said their information wasn't complete & asked for more data. Hopefully this was done and it gets approved soon!

learned yesterday that they don't have the Moderna Booster and don't know when they will get it. I was quite surprised at this.

Even if immunity with Moderna is slightly higher than Pfizer, why don't they know when they will have the Moderna Booster?
