Tea party leaders emerged from Tuesday less enthusiastic about Mr. Christie’s win than they were angry over the loss by Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II in Virginia’s race for governor, accusing the Republican establishment of undercutting a conservative candidate who they say could have won.

The percentage he won by would have been lower is all.

Now, if they had dug up and ran Jerry Falwell, there would be no contest.

He said polling suggested that people who voted for Sarvis were both Dems and Reps. It was a "protest vote" so there was no indication that it would have changed the outcome
