WASHINGTON (AP) - Former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb says he is "seriously looking" at a Democratic presidential campaign in 2016, a move that could create a challenge to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton if she seeks the White House again.
Webb is a veteran of the Vietnam War who served as Navy secretary and in the Defense Department. He defeated Republican Sen. George Allen in 2006 and served one term in the Senate.

Is corporate shill just the term to throw out when someone doesn't like a candidate?

(45,274 posts)I'd about call his political positions about equally as unappetizing as Hill's.
From Wikipedia:
On September 7, 2006, Webb released his first television advertisement, which included footage of a 1985 speech by Ronald Reagan that praised Webb's service as a Marine.[27] The next day, the Chief of Staff for the Reagan Library wrote Webb's campaign on behalf of former first lady Nancy Reagan, urging them not to air the advertisement saying it was neither fair nor respectful because it gave the impression of an endorsement.[28][29] The Webb campaign disagreed, saying, "What Reagan said about Jim Webb, that belongs to Jim Webb, frankly."[28] The library said they ask all candidates to refrain from using the former president's image but declined to say if they would request the Allen campaign to remove the image of Reagan used on his campaign website.[28]
Five female graduates of the United States Naval Academy held a press conference, decrying a 1979 article by Webb, titled "Women Can't Fight."[30] The women said Webb's article contributed to an atmosphere of hostility and harassment towards women at the academy. Webb was later endorsed by nine military women who stated that Webb is a "man of integrity" who "recognizes the crucial role that women have in the military today."[31]

(23,156 posts)towards the end of his time in the Senate that made me not care for him. I believe he's actually quite conservative in many ways. But it is nice to see another Democrat actually considering the run. If he does, I will look seriously at his policies and record.

(2,976 posts)HRC may be popular among democrats, she is by no means popular among the general population. Way too much Clinton baggage.
Webb won in Virgina which proves he has the appeal that crosses party lines. If he decides to run I'd support him.
