Charlottesville: Jury seated for trial in the death of Heather Heyer

This is a trial under Virginia law and is taking place in the Charlottesville Circuit Court.

A 16 person jury has been sworn in for Fields’ trial. The breakdown is 9 women and 7 men. Only one of the jurors is black, the rest appear to be white.

planned and that the Federal Hate Crimes charges may carry a death penalty.

Is this the trial on state charges?

Fields also was indicted on 30(!) counts of Federal Hate Crimes. He pleaded not guilty to these charges in early July. I don't know when his next Federal appearance is scheduled.

I'll edit the OP to indicate the court.
