Seattle's Eagle Village gives Native American people second chance

Native American and Alaska Native people experiencing homelessness in King County now have a new place to call home.

Similar to a tiny home village, Eagle Village in Seattle's SODO neighborhood consists of several modular buildings that formerly housed oil workers in Houston, Texas.

Eagle Village opened in late October with the help of King County Executive Dow Constantine and the Chief Seattle Club, a nonprofit organization serving urban Native people to connect them with employment, health services, and permanent housing.

“We know that people of color, and particularly Native Americans, are disproportionately represented in the homeless population, and we are committed to tackling that challenge,” said Executive Constantine.
