REAL ID Compliance: What You Need To Know In Washington
A trade group that represents the commercial airport industry has proclaimed a crisis on the REAL ID program and is calling on Congress to extend the Oct. 1 deadline for compliance.
The Airports Council-North America, which represents commercial airports in the United States and Canada, has asked the federal government to extend the deadline amid concerns that two-thirds of drivers licenses held by Americans arent REAL ID-compliant.
Washington and Oregon were both granted two-year extensions for REAL ID compliance in 2018.
In Washington, residents can get enhanced driver licenses and ID cards at all Department of Licensing offices. A list of locations can be found on the DoL website. To obtain a REAL ID compliant form of identification, residents must provide proof of their U.S. citizenship, identity, social security, residency and name changes (if applicable).
