NHL Seattle begins construction of training center, team headquarters at Northgate mall
NHL Seattle on Thursday broke ground for construction of the training center and headquarters coming with the future hockey team.
The facility, located on the site of Northgate Mall, will be a multi-rink complex with plenty of fan-friendly amenities and resources to help encourage hockey participation throughout the city and region.
The expected completion date is summer 2021.
“This whole project has really been developed to serve,” NHL Seattle CEO/President Tod Leiweke told reporters Thursday. “And we start on that by saying we want to serve our players. We want to inspire players we are hoping to recruit. We want to retain players and we want word to get out that this -- Seattle -- is the place to play.”
